Cactus Towers Copenhagen

The Cactus Towers in Copenhagen, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), reflect the studio’s signature approach to architecture one that merges bold formal expression with practical functionality. The towers are conceived as sculptural, high-density residential buildings, where architecture becomes both a visual landmark and an efficient living space. Characterised by offset volumes and sharply angled balconies, the design challenges conventional tower typologies. The stacked geometry not only creates visual dynamism but also serves pragmatic purposes, optimising light, views, and private outdoor spaces for each unit — a hallmark of BIG’s philosophy of "pragmatic utopianism." This photo series focuses on the architectural composition, material language, and the way the buildings engage with their context. Light, shadow, and texture are used to reveal how the facades shift in perception throughout the day, reinforcing the towers’ strong sculptural identity. Click - Create - Repeat
